Sant’Andrea

The Church of Sant’Andrea was built in 1900 at the request of the German banker Hugo Andreas and his wife Emma, who decided to donate this place of worship to the fishermen and sailors of Marina Piccola, dedicating it to their patron saint: Saint Andrew the Apostle.

Considered one of the most distinctive churches in Capri thanks to its unique location, it stands just a few steps from the beach of Marina Piccola, offering a privileged view of the Faraglioni. The building was designed by the Parma-born painter Riccardo Fainardi and features a rectangular layout with three apses, combining a simple architectural style with several unique details.

The central apse of the church rises above what was once an ancient watchtower of the village, while the two side apses contain the altar dedicated to the Madonna of Pompeii and a characteristic spiral staircase leading to the area where the organ is located.
