Villa Malaparte: History and Facts about Capri’s Most Iconic Villa

Villa Malaparte, built between 1938 and 1942 on the Punta Massullo promontory, is one of Capri’s most recognizable architectural landmarks. Commissioned by Curzio Malaparte and traditionally associated with architect Adalberto Libera, it is distinguished by its red structure built directly onto the rock, its large trapezoidal staircase, and the curved white wall of its terrace. The villa also became famous through Jean-Luc Godard’s 1963 film Contempt. Today, it is privately owned and is considered one of the most important examples of 20th-century Italian architecture.

Starry night in Dentecala with chefs Salvatore and Chris

An evening full of stars in Capri, in the peace of Dentecala, for the first of a poker appointment, organized by chef Salvatore Aprea restaurant Da Tonino as part of the kermesse of That’s Love Capri 2024.

“Among the stars of Dentecala…” , this the title of the event, has seen the chef Salvatore Aprea host for the occasion the chef Chris Oberhammer restaurant Tilia. On the evening of 12 April, a special gourmet menu was exquisitely prepared. After the chefs’ welcome, the refined palates present were served a delicate artichoke, coffee and capers, followed by a delicious polenta pie with grey cheese foam, few eggs and porcini powder. Then a very special ravioli of duck, cardoncelli, kumquat and red wine and, following, the tasty braised beef with black truffle, potato cream and alpine herbs. Grand finale with the small souls, the dessert proposed by chef Aprea that is so successful.

For the first of four “Among the stars of Dentecala…” , Chef Salvatore has therefore welcomed back the chef Chris with whom he has already worked on other occasions, one of these also in a four-hand dinner last year always Da Tonino.

To make the evening even more special, the wines, paired with the courses, from the cellars Coppacchioli Tattini and Doganieri Miyazaki. Part of the proceeds from the event will be donated by the restaurant Da Tonino to the Soleterre Foundation.
