Villa Malaparte: History and Facts about Capri’s Most Iconic Villa

Villa Malaparte, built between 1938 and 1942 on the Punta Massullo promontory, is one of Capri’s most recognizable architectural landmarks. Commissioned by Curzio Malaparte and traditionally associated with architect Adalberto Libera, it is distinguished by its red structure built directly onto the rock, its large trapezoidal staircase, and the curved white wall of its terrace. The villa also became famous through Jean-Luc Godard’s 1963 film Contempt. Today, it is privately owned and is considered one of the most important examples of 20th-century Italian architecture.

Ancient Capri flavors: the miracle of cod. Themed event at the Capannina Bar

The miracle of cod will be the theme of the evening/ event scheduled on Wednesday 8 May, starting at 20.30, at the bar of the Capannina, the local attached to the historic and famous restaurant of the family De Angelis which is located in the heart of Capri. The ancient flavors of Capri at the center of this first theme event, a tasting between history, literature and food, which sees the synergy between the entrepreneur restaurateur Antonio De Angelis and professor Renato Esposito and takes place in collaboration with “That’s Love Capri”. Part of the proceeds from the evening will be donated to the Soleterra foundation.

La Capannina, one of the temples of Caprese gastronomy, together with the wine bar and wine bar represents a perfect triangle, all concentrated in just a few steps.

Francesco De Angelis, entrepreneur attentive to details, has made the Capannina Bar a small jewel in a fair symbiosis between attention to detail, simplicity and elegance, with renovated and expanded spaces and also a new bar area. The must of 2024 is the aperitif. Innovative cocktails alongside classic drinks, by the new bartender Mauro Salvia, which can be accompanied by a wide choice menu ranging from crudités of vegetables to mozzarelline breaded with tomato sauce, from fried zucchini and mozzarella to mixed fries “delicious”, from fried ravioli to puschi-puschi aperitif, from eggplant parmigiana to meatballs and potatoes to fried squid.

A place suitable for tourists and locals, between taste, good drinks and many surprises.

And now spotlight on the ancient flavors of Capri, with the unmissable theme event of 8 May at the Capannina Bar on the miracle of cod.
