Who Was Tiberius? The Second Roman Emperor

Tiberius was the second emperor of Rome, who came to power in 14 AD after Augustus. Born in 42 BC, he first distinguished himself as a successful military commander before being adopted by Augustus as his heir.

During his reign, he focused on consolidating rather than expanding the Roman Empire, carefully managing finances, strengthening the army, and ensuring political stability. However, his reserved and distrustful nature made his relationship with the Senate difficult.

In 26 AD, he moved to Capri, where he continued to rule and had the Villa Jovis built. His time on the island gave rise to many legends, often exaggerated by ancient historians.

He died in 37 AD and was succeeded by Caligula. Tiberius is remembered as a capable administrator who strengthened the foundations laid by Augustus, but also as a controversial figure closely associated with Capri.

Il Bar Grotta Azzurra partner di That’s Amore Capri

Irma Nastri and Adelmo Viva, owners of the Bar Grotta Azzurra, are the result of the success of the “Gourmet” section, a novelty of recent years that aims to give customers sweet and savoury delicacies of strictly artisanal production. But the history of the Bar Grotta Azzurra is much older: since 1870 it was a place where tourists arriving and leaving, around the ’30s of the ‘900 the family Nastri took over to gradually transform it into one of the most iconic places of Capri.

And in fact today the Bar Grotta Azzurra is confirmed one of the most active activities on the territory of the island, with a rich proposal ranging from pastry and gastronomy, up to the #300etichette, the quality oenological offer that includes 300 selected wine labels, Champagne bubbles. But not only: it is in the nature of the owners to pay attention to the interesting initiatives that happen on the island, to look for opportunities for collaborations and partnerships that do well in Capri.

The partnerships

For this Irma and Adelmo are close to the review That’s Love Capri since the organizers have called “edition 0”, when it was not yet christened with the current name, but already shared the spirit and objectives. On that occasion, the theatrical show Up e down by Paolo Ruffini with the boys of Mayor Von Frinzius, held at La canzone del mare, gave great emotions to spectators.

Since then, with great passion, Irma and Adelmo have embarked on a series of initiatives in collaboration with That’s Amore Capri: from the creation, together with the restaurant Da Paolino, of the Capri lemon panettone, an initiative sold out for Christmas 2023, until the creation of the cake to celebrate the success of the last edition made by the confectioners of the Grotta Azzurra bar, in the usual post-main event dinner that takes place exclusively and in total privacy at the restaurant la Capannina Capri, with the patron Francesco de Angelis who welcomes guests with enthusiasm.

Bar Grotta Azzurra web partner of That’s Amore

The 2023 review has witnessed the great growth of the event, which is confirmed as the reference appointment for the schedule of events caprese. This, combined with the affection they have always shown towards the event, has motivated Irma and Adelmo to become full members of this great family: from this year, in fact, they will participate in the exhibition as web partners.

We therefore welcome with great pleasure and joy the Bar Grotta Azzurra among our supporters, sure to be able to realize increasingly important collaborations; our association will be based on solidarity, and on the willingness to bring to the territory important events, that they serve as a springboard for quality tourism and not limited solely to the summer season.
