Chiesa di
Sant'Antonio

It was completed in the 1600s, but underwent numerous other restoration interventions, such as the addition of the bell gable and the sacristy. To reach it, take the Scala Fenicia, the ancient road carved into the rock that connects Anacapri with the port of Marina Grande.

With its 921 steps, it covers an altitude difference of about 300 meters and is one of the most interesting scenic routes on the island.

Right here the sailors, who were preparing to descend, found refuge, and that is why inside they placed a picture of St. Anthony, protector of Anacapri. The architecture is simple and outside of it there is a semicircular masonry terrace.

Even today, the traditional “thirteen” in honor of the patron saint begins on June 1st, with mass at 7 am, many inhabitants have the habit of going there to pay homage to the saint.
