Capri, by definition the island of love, couldn’t not have a symbolic place with a high level of romance, clearly indicated by specific signage.
Where is this place located? In Anacapri, at the Belvedere del Sognatore, near the Punta Carena Lighthouse. The idea of designating this spot as the one where kissing is mandatory came a couple of years ago from Simone Acampora, a young man from Anacapri.
He proposed the idea to the municipality, which immediately embraced it. After completing the bureaucratic process, the signs were installed, and the news quickly spread around the world. Curiosity began to attract many couples eager to take a selfie with a passionate kiss in front of the “romantic zone” sign, with the lighthouse at sunset serving as both a background and a natural frame.
Adverse weather conditions partially damaged the signage during the winter; no problem, Simone and his friends didn’t lose heart and, in coordination with the Municipality of Anacapri, they took care of repairing and replacing the signs.
