Giardini di Augusto

The best times to visit the Gardens are early in the morning and late in the afternoon, when there is less crowds. If you have a few hours to visit Capri, you cannot fail to stop in this little green jewel set on the sea that embraces the Marina Piccola basin, the Faraglioni and the spectacular bends of via Krupp. The Gardens of Augustus, once known as the gardens of Krupp, consist of a series of flowered terraces that allow the view of the Certosa di San Giacomo, Monte Tuoro, Monte Tiberio and Monte San Michele to sweep.

It was at the beginning of the twentieth century that thanks to the German industrialist Friedrich Alfred Krupp and the engineering contribution of Emilio Meyer this green oasis was born, conceived as a winter garden of succulents and then transformed into a floral jewel where you can admire many species present on the island.

In 1918 they were donated to the town of Capri taking the name of Gardens of Augustus, believing that a Roman villa was built in that place. Entrance to the Gardens of Augustus costs 1 euro (entrance to the Gardens of Augustus + Certosa di San Giacomo: 5.00 Euros). The best times to visit the Gardens are early in the morning and late in the afternoon, when there is less crowds. The opening hours are as follows: April, May, June, July, August, September, October: from 9:00 to 19:30. November, December, January, February, March: from 9:00 to 16:30.
